I've been frustrated with the true crime genre for years because of how rarely survivors get to tell their own stories. What I Survived fixes that. Every episode is profound. The wrongful conviction episode especially should be required listening.

Crime Junkie and Morbid are great but What I Survived is the most important thing audiochuck has made. By centering survivor voices, they've created something that can actually change how listeners think about crime and justice.

What I Survived is an audiochuck original series that puts survivors at the center of their own stories. In most true crime podcasts, victims and survivors are discussed — their cases examined, their lives reconstructed. What I Survived does something different: it hands the microphone to the people who lived through violence and lets them tell their own stories in their own words. Each episode features a different survivor, speaking about what happened to them, how they got through it, and what their life looks like now. The show is frank about trauma without being exploitative, and its commitment to survivor agency makes it unlike almost anything else in the true crime space.
